Small Ensembles

Participating in an Ensemble allows students to apply the skills they have developed through personal practice, Specialist Tuition and Cohort Workshops in the way that music is all about: playing with others!

Working under the guidance of our teaching faculty, Small Ensemble members collaborate during weekly rehearsals to develop a collection of diverse repertoire. Once this repertoire reaches a suitable standard, opportunities for performances within the school and the general community can be made available.

Membership in a Small Ensemble is open to all enrolled Performance Music students, with specific placements determined by audition and/or faculty approval. Small Ensemble rehearsals are held during recess of the day indicated below:

  • Jazz Combo (Mr Reid – Thursdays): Vocals, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Bass, Piano, Drums
  • Rock Band (Mr James – Mondays): Vocals, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Bass, Piano Drums
  • Brass Quintet (Mr Meyer – Thursdays): Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Tuba
  • Vocal Ensemble (Ms Lord – Fridays): Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Piano, Drums
